A library apprentice, a sorcerer prince, and an unbreakable magic bond…
The Solaris Empire is one conquest away from uniting the continent, and the rare elemental magic sleeping in seventeen-year-old library apprentice Vhalla Yarl could shift the tides of war.
Vhalla has always been taught to fear the Tower of Sorcerers, a mysterious magic society, and has been happy in her quiet world of books. But after she unknowingly saves the life of one of the most powerful sorcerers of them all—the Crown Prince Aldrik—she finds herself enticed into his world. Now she must decide her future: Embrace her sorcery and leave the life she’s known, or eradicate her magic and remain as she’s always been. And with powerful forces lurking in the shadows, Vhalla’s indecision could cost her more than she ever imagined.
Wow. This book was a joy from the second I started reading it. The word building was fantastic. I felt like I could reach out and touch the things that were described and the library gave me the best warm and fuzzy feeling. All I wanted to do was hop on a rolling ladder and start belting songs from beauty and the beast.
This was gloriously love triangle free. The love was a bit tangly but it was one sided. There weren’t any other tropes in this except the whole chosen one not wanting to be the chosen one. It didn’t bother me like I thought it would. It actually felt natural given the history of the land and the sorcerers. The prince was a dream. He was grumpy, sassy, privileged, and a human being. It was nice to see him grow and learn from his mistakes. I actually enjoyed the heartbreaker prince as well! He was a nice addition. All the characters had depth and each one grew before your eyes. I adored Fitz and wish we had seen more of him!
As soon as I finished this one I bought the next two. This is definitely one to pick up if you want anything magical. It had a satisfying ending too!
